le corbusier henri snel

The uniqueness of the oeuvre of Le Corbusier (1887-1965) results not only from the architect’s distinctive choice of materials, spatial dimensions and use of light, but should also be seen in light of his in-depth knowledge of history, humanity, philosophy, and parallel art forms, such as music, literature, and the visual and performing arts. Le Corbusier’s rich and multilayered oeuvre is not bound to architecture alone, but also relates to other fields and scales of designing space, including urbanism and interior design. Le Corbusier was able to convince his clients and the world around him, expressing himself in clear spoken language as well as in persuasive writings: articles, books and numerous letters.
The new book (read the book on issuu) showing many stories told by students from the department of inter-architecture after a great trip in september 2013. We were visiting a series of buildings, studying and drawing them. Not visiting a single other building in between, but a total focus on the works of Le Corbusier. We visited maison La Roche, Villa Savoye, Unité d’habitation, the church Église Saint-Pierre and the stadium in Firminy, La Tourette (also stayed overnight) and Notre-Dame-du-Haut.
